Boston Tea Party

I know its early in the basketball season, and we're still a long way away from the Superbowl...but might we be witnessing a year in which Boston runs the table by winning the World Series, the Superbowl and the NBA Championship in the same season? I don't even know how the Bruins are doing...but maybe that's a possibility as well.

Has that happened before?

It happened when Philadelphia won curling, horseback archery and the "Killing White People" Open Championship -the three major sports at the time - in 1673.
All entrant teams were American Indians, and Philadelphia was called something like "Nowontika" or some shit.

I'm pretty sure that's how you spell it.

Also, you can tell it's a slow news day in Queens when you get comments like the one above. I went home on my lunchbreak today and played Xbox.

Okay so I did a little research on my own blog--the only other time that 3 teams of major sports (which I interpreted loosely as baseball, basketball, football, and hockey) held the championship trophies at the same time was 1969-70.
Joe Namath guaranteed victory and delivered three days later in a huge upset over the Colts in Superbowl 3. Then the New York Mets were dubbed the "Miracle Mets" when they upset the Baltimore Orioles from out of nowhere. Then in the '69-'70 season, the New York Knicks were led by Willis Reed and Walt Frazier to victory in a 7-game thriller.
Interesting notes:
These were the first championships for each of these teams. Both the Jets and the Mets were serious underdogs. In fact some people would have predicted we would put a man on the moon before the Mets would win the World Series after their 40-120 '62 season. Well it just so happens we did that too on July 20, 1969.

So...I'd say if Belichick-Brady-Moss and Pierce-Allen-Garnett can match Beckett-Ramirez-Ortiz, we would experience something that's only been done one other time in history. I would even go so far as to say that each of these teams (again, I know I am getting ahead of myself) probably have a better than good chance of repeating next season.

Not to mention BC in nat'l title contention for NCAA football...its like the "Sons of Liberty" are at the helm in Beantown.

I do my part by trying to drink as much Sam Adams as possible.

Ahem. Boston College WAS in National Title contention.

Now, as a one loss team - thank you florida state- they're in line behind teams like LSU, Oregon, Oklahoma and West Virginia.

I think we need to test the water in Beantown for HGH.

Don't sleep on the BU Terriers winning the Beanpot then the NCAA Frozen Four!

They'll have to go through the #1 ranked Miami RedHawks to win the Frozen Four.

Love and Honor.
