NFL Network To Screw Everyone In Country.

This was a news flash to me, let's see if anyone else is surprised.

The Patriots last regular season game falls on Dec. 29 against the Giants. According to the NY Daily news, that game has been purchased for nationwide exclusivity by NFL Network.

So if you don't have access to the NFL network, or live in the greater New York or New England areas, you're shit out of luck.

That's a pretty big cross-section of the country that's going to miss a potential history-making game.

My question: Shouldn't the NFL Network be advertising this NOW, so that people can call in and subscribe? cause god knows the week in advance might not be enough notice, and if the pats lose no one cares, so why not try and milk that cash cow while it's still standing?

people said the same thing about ESPN 2 when it first came out, now it is everywhere. If you air it, they will come.

Obviously history speaks for itself with ESPN 2 however ESPN does cover all of the sports so naturally they will have more viewers. Even though the NFL is the most popular and most watched sport it is only one sport therefore comparing it to ESPN 2 isn't a totally fair benchmark. Second, this is the first really good game on the NFL Network (potentially) where as not every game played on the NFL network is this good or has these kind of implications. I agree that they should be pushing that game now. and droppin it like its hot!

All of this to say nothing of the fact that I will have to get my lazy ass to a bar to see that game because Time Warner will not subscribe for the game as of yet here in SD.

By the way I'm going to the Colts-Chargers game this weekend with Erica and a friend from college--1st row in the endzone!! I need a yes or no vote for whether Erica and I should wear our Bengals jerseys to the game.

You better wear the Bengals jerseys.

And Flip, you make an interesting point, but can you think of a game this big (possible history, possible playoff implications for the G-Men) that would have been on ESPN 2 early in its history?

I'm not concerned about the NFL Network as a whole, I'm more interested in what the reaction will be as people start to realize that most cable carriers DON'T carry the NFL Network because, according to inside source Dave Duran, it demands too much money from companies like Time Warner and Comcast. (Almost as much as ESPN, apparently, without the disparate viewer base that the worldwide leader can pull)

I didn't even have BASIC cable back when ESPN 2 came around . We used to make Tyler stand outside with the TV antenna pointing it at the sky until we got Ch. 5...then he had to run to the other side of the townhouse to get Ch. 9. Then Mom would go to sleep and we'd get the nudey channels.

I agree, but By placing important games with teams from big markets (NYC) they are more likely to force people's hands.

Also, when ESPN2 came around, ESPN was not nearly the juggernaut it is now, they did not even have sunday night Football yet if I am not mistaken. their major markee games were Sunday night baseball, Super Tuesday and Thursday Night C-USA football.

Also, NFL Network is offering much better programming that 24 straight hours of Worlds Strongest Man competitions and Spelling bees. Hell John Facenda's voice alone is worth the extra 10 bucks a month if you ask me.

and I believe it is 'nudie'

but seriously...is it totally tasteless not only to wear our bengals jerseys in the front row of the endzone in tickets given to us by exec vp's of qualcomm??

is it even more tasteless to root for the Colts?
