The Grass is ALWAYS Greener

According to recent reports from TWWL, Pete Carroll is seriously considering leaving beautiful Southern California for the head coaching position..... of the Atlanta Falcons! Zuh?!?

Why oh why, would you leave the Trojan Empire you have created to join an organization that has been in a 2007 nightmarish tailspin? He has six straight conference championships, 2 AP National Titles, and first pick on all the nation's West Coast recruits. For what more could you ask??

Apparently, he has that same Billy Donovan, Nick Saban, Rick Pitino, Steve Spurrier- itch that just needs to be scratched. He'll take the job, coach three or four years and take a golden parachute back to some other PAC 10 program. When will these coaches realize that being a king of a collegiate empire is just as good, if not better, than being just another NFL head coach.

Personally, I think there is no chance in hell that he actually takes the Falcons job. I don't think it is coincidental that this is happening as soon as there is an opening in Redskins Park. He's trying to see if he can get that $40M/5 year deal out of Snyder and if so, he would consider that. Don't believe for a second that he'll be on the sideline of the Georgia Dome.

Wow. Dav makes a good argument, but Dav also makes a salient point. I don't know WHO to believe.

The only blemish on Pete Carrol's record is his first attempts to be a pro Coach. So other than the absurd salary increase, How about trying one last time to solidify your reputation as one of the greatest coaches of all time, instead of just a College or just an NFL guy.

remember, head coaches of pro and college programs have enormous ego's, and after they have made their millions, their reputation is all they have left to worry about.
